Engineers are increasingly being called upon to produce designs that have less impact on the planet. Matthew Gilbert, University of Sheffield will introduce layout optimisation techniques and how these can be applied to a range of structural design problems. Matthew will explain what the opportunities of using these techniques, but also the potential pitfalls. Matthew will join other presenters at the SCI UK Steel Construction Day, 7 Nov 2019, London.
