The Steel Construction Day is fast approaching and we are putting the finishing touches to our programme.
Our theme is ‘Transforming construction: using steel to deliver greater productivity’. Presentations will be taken from different sectors of the steel construction industry demonstrating how steel solutions have delivered cost, time and energy savings.
Mark Farmer, the author of the 2016 Government White Paper on the need for change in the UK’s construction sector ‘Modernise or Die: time to decide the industry’s future’ will give a steel construction perspective on how offsite manufacturing can modernise the construction industry and improve building standards. Other talks will showcase projects and technologies which have led to improved productivity using steel, including modular construction, light gauge steel framing, piling, bridges and BIM. There will also be a review of the role SCI has played over the last year in making steel design easier and more competitive.
This will be a great educational and networking event for the structural steel industry, bringing together structural engineers, steelwork contractors, clients and academics. It will be an opportunity to hear about some of the industry’s latest technologies and network with people advancing the design and construction industry. The talks will be of interest to experienced engineers from all sectors of the steel construction industry, as well as those who are newer to the industry.
